Surf Educators International Accreditation process
Goal: SEI will provide the tick of approval to affiliate members who’s programs meet the SEI requirements
type of programs: Surf education programs including theory and practical, publications, surf instructor programs, lifeguard training programs
Criteria
Practical Venue: must have a safe workable sandbank for practical program to cater for all abilities, access to flatwater (if possible) rips for demonstrations
Approval: Council Approvals
Insurance: 20,000,000 Public liability
Theory lessons and publications that conforms with SEI’s surf education publications
Practical program with content that conforms with SEI’s training manuals and staff/participant ratios
Qualified staff: Surf bronze or equivelant, Senior first aid, SEI instructors certificate (have viewed the SEI surf awareness presentation and participated in a practical exam)
Program range: Each progam has to be individually accredited
Experience:
Membership with SEI - including instructors:
Working with children checks
OH&S and rescue emergency procedures for each venue
Successful applicants receive: Endorsement with SEI logo that can be used in all supporting endorsed program materials
